SOMEONE YOU KNOW HAS AN ADDICTION/WHAT DO YOU DO!?

THIS QUESTION MIGHT BEST BE ANSWERED BY ASKING “WHAT CAN I DO?”  WHAT WORKS? WHAT DOSEN’T?

FACTS/THOUGHTS:

1. MOST PEOPLE BECOME ENABLERS! OUT OF THE KINDNESS OF THEIR HEARTS AND SOULS THEY OFFER MONEY AND ALL OTHER KINDS OF HELP (thinking that it will help the person with the addiction succeed in breaking the habit).

Fact: By the time you find out about the addiction, it is usually too late to do any good with that kind of help.

2. THE PERSON WITH THE ADDICTION REFUSES TO BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM AND EVEN IF THEY DO THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT ANY BODY HELPING THEM OUT.

Fact: Addiction is mostly cured by professional help: doctors, rehabs, counselors, etc. NOT BY FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS!

3. BY THE TIME THE PERSON REALIZES THAT THEY DO HAVE A PROBLEM IT IS USUALLY TOO LATE FOR A TOTAL RECOVERY.

Fact: The recovery rate for long term addiction is very low.

MAJOR TRUTH: BEING AN ENABLER IS THE SINGLE WORST THING YOU CAN BE! IT DOES NOT WORK!

MAJOR TRUTH: ENABLERS LIVES ARE DESTROYED ALONGSIDE THE ADDICTED!

MAJOR TRUTH: TOTAL REMOVAL FROM THE ADDICTED IS NECESSARY FOR SUCCESS FOR EITHER GROUP!

MAJOR TRUTH: GUILT DRIVES MOST ENABLERS………I WOULDA, COULDA, SHOUDA DONE THIS OR THAT!

MAJOR TRUTH: WE ARE ALL REPSONSIBLE FOR OUR OWN LIVES, PERIOD! NOBODY ELSES! WE ALL MAKE CHOICES! WE ALL CAN ALWAYS MAKE DIFFERENT CHOICES.

WHY PRAYING DOESN’T WORK, BY THE ADDICTED OR THE LOVED ONES?

I DON’T KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WISH I DID!!!!!!!! IF YOU KNOW PLEASE TELL ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
